Wouldn’t it be great to come back from vacation feeling
fit rather than fat? Well today many people are opting for a fitness oriented
“adventure” vacation.
Adventure vacations are thriving. Last year $230 billion dollars were spent on active vacations involving sports and fitness. West Coast fitness editor Nicole Dorsey says this trend has seen a steep increase in the past couple years, especially among women who now account for fifty percent of the adventure travel bookings. “Some of the most common sports in adventure travel women are experiencing today are kayaking, paddling, backpacking, rockclimbing, with real ascending and descending 80 foot cliffs sometimes, one man kayaking in deep surf, white water rafting, even horseback riding, everything down to kite flying.”
Learning how to traverse a river or scale a mountain is so empowering an experience that many women who embark on such challenges report making major life changes when returning home…like changing apartments, jobs, or getting out of a stagnant relationship.
“I think adventure vacations will totally change your life." Nicole says. "Especially if you’re stuck in any type of a fitness rut. If you’re sitting on a bike in the gym all the time and all of a sudden you can learn how to mountain bike a real mountain, you’ll never be the same. “ So pack you bag, or better yet your backpack, and head out for a little
