135).  Total Body Medicine Ball Workout

Naqam Washington/Bally Trainer
Variety can be the spice of life—especially when it comes to your fitness program. Instead of doing weight training, try using a weighted medicine ball for an effective workout that’s a little different from your usual routine.

Want to workout like a serious athlete? Bally trainer Naqam Washington likes to use medicine balls to take his clients workouts to the next level.

Bonnie: So how can we use a medicine to put variety in our workout and maybe get some good results?
Naquam: Well it’s a different concept. A lot of athletes use medicine balls in their workout, it’s manual resistance, and it’s just a different type of workout your body will appreciate.

Here are two total body exercises you’ll feel all over.

I’m gonna roll the ball to you, go lower,  pick it up, go all the way up, squeeze your abs, pull the arms above, boom…now you’re working the back, working the arms.

Squatting works the quads and glutes. Lifting the ball overhead works your abs, back, and arms while raising your heart rate. Next, try a split lunge with oblique twists. The lunge works your glutes, quads and hamstrings, while the twist works your waist and back. For Inside Fitness, I’m Bonnie Kaye.
