New Shoe Review

Striving to re-energize the fitness shoe market, athletic shoe companies have come up with some unique categories for during and after your workout.

Bk:
“Now Janet I understand there are some new shoe categories this year?

Janet Lee, Fitness Magazine:
There are some really fun new shoes out there. This is a new category called outdoor cross-trainers. And this specific one is called the women’s hydro-trail low, from high-tech, It goes for $72.00.

A hybrid trail and aqua shoe, it’s traction sole and breathable mesh make it versatile enough for kayaking, mountain biking or rock scrambling.

Janet:
"The next new category we’re seeing are off-road walking shoes."

“It’s got the support you need in the heel, when you’re landing on your heel, it’s got flexibility here, so you’re pushing off on your toe and it’s going to be a little more lightweight, then you’ll see in a traditional hiking shoe.”

The Atonic Dry Light is waterproofed with Gore-tex and goes for $115.00.

Janet:
“The funnest category we’re seeing these days is what we call either Saturday afternoon shoes or after sport shoes.”  And Vans, these actually started out by skateboarders."

With a leather upper and a cool looking sneaker sole, this VAN GLITZ “after sport” shoe goes for $40.00.  Comfy to slip into after you take off your sweaty running shoes, it will also extend the life of those more expensive shoes by only wearing them while you’re running.

This Rockport Serenity shoe is being billed as a “yoga” shoe, to wear to and from your yoga class.

Janet:
“It’s very minimalistic and simple and quiet as far as the styling goes, so it kind of fits very naturally with yoga.”  “And they’ve got a neat insole here that disperses the air. If you press down on your hell, to air goes to your toe. And it kinda comes back.”

The Rockport Serenity has a flexible, rubber sole, and goes for $60.00.
